Look Before You Leap
- Diving should never be allowed in an above-ground pool or from the shallow end of an in-ground pool.
- If you have an in-ground pool, consider removing the diving board and not allowing diving in the deep end. When a diver hits his or her head on the bottom of a pool, the result can be death or paralysis.
- Do not slide head first down a slide. Going feet first reduces the risk of the head striking the bottom of the pool.
Make Sure You’ve Got It Covered
- Pools that aren’t being used or maintained should be kept covered.
- Pool covers should always be completely removed when the pool is in use.
- Standing water should be removed from pool covers.
